a few days ago i started to jot down a list of "30 before 30" (read: thirty things i want to accomplish before i turn thirty). not that i turn thirty any time very soon, but thirty is a whole lot, time runs fast, and i better start early, for i want to be most ambitious. i dream big and do not want to lose sight on the things in my life that i appreciate, value and love, that i enjoy, that make me laugh and happy -- among all the stuff that i feel like i have to do and time pressuring from behind.
for example, one item reads "see ray lamontagne live". i am excited, because it seems February is my chance in London! and then there is some things like "donate blood for the first time in my life" (me scaredy-cat super-scared of syringes and fainting quickly ... ) or that i want to learn or devote more time to (by defining a clear outcome), like "get a bit of space on an allotment site or elsewhere, learn gardening and harvest my own beetroot and herbs" or "learn a choreographed dance". i enjoy thinking about these things so much. however,
i was very quick with my list until i finished item #14, but ever since progress is surprisingly incremental. i actually have to think quite hard. the list is not finished yet. which makes me think ... do i lack for nothing? i think this is quite true. i am very happy, always look for balance in my day, live by intuition or what sparks my interest.
but i guess it is also nice to think carefully about what is important to me in life, imagining how i can put this in practice, how this can manifest itself from within me. i have already started to learn about myself, with the list not even done.
i wish my daily and weekly to-do-lists were just like that. but unfortunately, they pile up and grow longer every day. which is why i came here, to "pro-cras-ti-na-te" a little further, or to read it differently "pre-vent-burn-out".
better go back and work on those lists then ... cheers.
