The day -- green, yellow, and loud

While we were standing for an hour waiting to finally start walking the route, the elevators did not abate bringing more people down from the station into our midst. In front of us, thousands and thousands of people kept flowing onto the bridge, into the streets, towards the centre.

Large and small, young and old gathered today for the siege.

A siege spurred on by drums and choirs, rattles and thousands of self-made posters, whistles and yellow flags. Together we besieged the governmental quarters, protesting against the current nuclear power policy of our Christian-democrat / liberal government. We dropped our hazardous cans in front of the official buildings to demonstrate that nuclear waste comes in a bottomless pit.

We do not want any more nuclear waste that we cannot dispose of for generations and generations to come. We want our children to grow with radiation in their smiles, not in their environment. We are against the abandonment of the treaties we signed ten years ago. We wish to invest in new alternative energies and we are willing to do our part on the energy-saving end.

Three of my friends i walked with.

My voice feels coated now and i am exhausted from hours spent outdoors. But i am inspired by the feeling of togetherness, the atmosphere of peace and the optimism flowing in the air that another way of living is possible. Lets make it possible. Together. Now.
