the shop owner was so polite and forthcoming to even drop this old 'chest of drawers' (what a name btw) and me off at our front door, so there was not a single carrying things around. and my wonderful new flatmate helped me to get it up the stairs. so by now i have cleaned it all out. got rid of the dust and came across some intense aromas of old, older and oldest. it was rather interesting ...
but also, the upper middle drawer was full of little surprises and discoveries: some old photograph of a 15-year-old taken in 1998 (not sure if i should keep it), an awesome button collection (in perfect timing for the winter), a few religious items (you're now in Britain, young lady), a pocket mirror (the engraving says it's from Japan), sewing needles and ribbons (always good to have), a colorful piece of green fabric (i need some idea of what to make out of it), an english dictionary wrapped in beautiful leather (how thoughtful of the previous owners. did they know i was going to be the subsequent user?), and even a poem (which really made it all perfect)! i was smitten. and continue to be.
but come see yourself. do you like it as much as i do? i could not be happier. so much beauty!
